In detail

Depart from our office in Barcelona in a comfortable air-conditioned coach heading to Montserrat. After about an hour's drive, you'll board the iconic rack railway that ascends the mountain while enjoying spectacular views of the natural surroundings.


Discover the unique silhouette of Montserrat, famous for its jagged rock formations - hence its name, "serrated mountain" - and declared a Natural Park in 1987 for its great scenic and cultural value.

Accompanied by a local guide, you'll tour the monastery and learn about its history and architecture. Today, a community of Benedictine monks continues to live and follow the rule of St. Benedict in this unique place. Admire the Gothic and Renaissance details of the basilica and learn about the legend of the Black Virgin, La Moreneta, whose carving is preserved inside the sanctuary and is one of the most revered symbols of Catalonia.

The experience includes a tasting of traditional liqueurs made by the monks and access to an audiovisual space to delve into the history of the monastery. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore at your own pace, enter the basilica, contemplate the landscape, stroll through the local market of artisanal products or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

You can also enhance your visit by adding the option of listening to the Escolania de Montserrat, one of the oldest children's choirs in Europe, or live an immersive video-mapping experience that combines art, light and music to discover the history and spirituality of Montserrat from a unique perspective.

Before traveling

• A proper dress code is required to enter the Basilica of Montserrat. It is not permitted to enter wearing tank tops, strapless shirts, shorts or flip-flops.

• The Aeri facilities are not adapted for people with reduced mobility. In this case, it will be necessary to make the reservation with the ascent to Montserrat on the rack railway.

• The weather is mountainous. Depending on the season, you will need warm/rainy clothing.

• Check the schedules of the facilities you wish to visit during your free time before the excursion.

• Please note that the tour is on foot upon your arrival at Montserrat.

• The option with Escolania will only be available during the school term. During the summer months, as well as during the guided tours they conduct, it will not be possible.
